Why So Cute II

Got7 - Lullaby

How I spent my long weekend.

To be fair, I did this intense 60mins yoga flow and it felt.. awesome. Try it but only if you have some yoga practice under your belt already. Otherwise, try something simpler!

Can't wait for Korea!

People Who Want To Be There, Will Be There

I am a little under the weather. But I am just glad this virus is only attacking now and not while we were racing in Langkawi last week.

I wonder if I'll be better after sleep?

Anyway. In line with the theme of needing to belong and accepted, to be liked, I realised that my general well-being the past couple of weeks have much to do with my little new year resolution.

There was this one incident in 2018 that had left a nasty aftertaste in my thirties. Long story short, I concluded that if a friend is too busy to make time for me, then so be it. I wouldn't need their friendship anyway.

At the end of 2018, I decided that well, it's a new year, it's time to forgive, forget and plus, it's not like I've been a perfect friend either. So, I made a mental note that I will put in more effort to keep in touch and/or spend time with people I've conveniently and some I strategically lost touch with.

So when 2019 came along, I embarked on a mini get-in-touch-with-friends-I've-lost touch-with project. I texted several friends and out of 5 people, probably 3 people hadn't responded to my attempts of getting in touch.

I admit, I was super bitter about it and really did question myself - Did I offend them? Did I wrong them without realising it? Have I done something I should be apologising for? If not, why are they not responsive to me?

And yes, I have an innate need to be liked, so, people not responding to me, I took as rejection and this surprisingly affected me more than I would have liked.

But today, I came across a revelation. It occurred to me that some people, even if you wanted them in your life, they don't. People have to want to be in your life before it can happen. And you just can't force it.

Some people will come, linger and go. That's fine.

Some people will not come, even if you tried. And that's fine too.

The bottom line is, people who want to be in your life will make that effort to be there.

There's really no use second guessing.

So, I have decided to not mop over those people who have decidedly not reply my messages, who have for whatever reason decide that I am not worth their time.

I am at peace and it's okay.

Fate Is A Funny Thing

Don't you think??

Okay, so I have been tinkering with the settings/layout on this blog here and there and I can't seem to like one thing enough to stick with it, nor do I have the patience to give it my full attention to tinker it properly. So be it.

Clean Bandit - Symphony feat. Zara Larsson

Spent the past 2 days attending a Coaching Conference. One of the major takeaway was this - Row The Boat analogy by P.J. Fleck.

Your back is to the future, you can't see what's coming ahead.
You decide what you do with your oars in the present.
The only thing you cannot change, but you can learn from is what you see (in the past).

How apt!

Friends Who Bite

Or more commonly, friends who stab. Nonetheless, I personally think friends who bite are a milder version of friends who stab.

It's like the milder version of friends who talk about you behind your back (a.k.a back-stabbers), except that friends who bite are those who deliberately talk in front of you hoping to get a reaction out of it. That's the difference,

I really don't know why friends would do that, but I guess friends like that do exist.

This makes me feel ultra grateful for all my friends who just love unconditionally and are honest with you, not with the intention to hurt, but with the intention for you to improve.

So today's #thankyou post goes to all the good type of friends. /heart

Feeling tired but going to bed feeling light because I know He is in control of it all and that my battles are not mine to fight alone.

2017 Resolution

Let my default response to difficult, challenging times be to let God take control.

I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV)

And in happy and joyous occasions, to remain humble, grateful and to thank God for it all.

Happy New Year!

Top !0

  1. I used to think I wouldn't starve as long as I had a microwave. Now, I believe I'd survive as long as I have a kettle and instant mushroom soup. Man, I could drink that all day long!
  2. I managed to do 7 unbroken double unders today. Some massive stroke marks on my forearms though. And a note to myself to avoid practicing on cement next time.
  3. Reply 1988 ended over the weekend. A small part of me ended with Show too. That is what happens when a show has so many characters that you adore.
  4. Maybe I should just keep to myself. The more I speak, the more trouble I get myself into. Just shut up already.
  5. 6km's the other day! Woot woot. And then I am all sore until today. But sore is no excuse to not burn them calories. No pain no gain.
  6. I should really introduce more fruits and vege into my food intake. All these instant stuff can't be doing me much good.
  7. A cuppa would be perfect now. Seriously. Coffee. Please.
  8. Been spending so much on taxi.. Well, at least now I know where my money has gone to.
  9. 好马不吃回头草
  10. Today, I got two gifts. A Laneige dual color lippy. And a colleague of mine, a funny Uncle, gave me a tube of hand lotion saying, "That day when I shook your hand, your skin was damn rough. Please use some lotion."
Weekends are no longer what it used to be, but TGIF all the same! :)

2014 Resolutions - Summary

On a completely random note, perhaps it is my cue to start drinking my coffee black, because twice now in a row, the fresh milk I bought had gone bad in under 5 days.

That aside. Here's the summary to my previously updated 2014 resolution, currently working on my 2015 list.

1. Shopping ban. I am putting a ban on buying new clothing for the entire 2014 - no new shoes, new tops, new jeans, no new earrings / rings / necklaces etc, unless the situation deem it completely necessary. Gifts for others are a different story.

So from my previous update, I ended up shopping a fair bit in Taiwan and when I was in Korea. To be fair, my purchases in Korea was to again save my ass from being frozen. No excuses for my Taiwan purchases though. My top brand award this year, without a doubt, goes to Uniqlo. If only they'd sponsor my wardrobe..

2. To travel to 2 new places that I've not been to before. Calling all travel buddies!

Checked! Philippines in March for sailing, Japan in April for holiday, Koh Samui in May for sailing.. And building on that list, I also traveled to Singapore, Bali, Taiwan (which was a first) and Korea + Busan.

3. To be vegetarian and/or pescetarian the first week (7 days) of each month. This is mainly to lead a healthier lifestyle. This means I'll be meat-free for my birthday this year too, party planners please take note!

I was doing pretty well on this until I left my job and started traveling. I believe I stopped following this 'rule' from September onwards.

4. Read more. And Dramabeans don't count.

I've finished in total about 9 books this year! David and Goliath, The Social Animal, Three Cups of Tea, Blink, Tipping Point, Outliers, Where We Belong, Picture Perfect and Looking for Alaska..

5. Be more watchful of my expenses. To jot down as best as I can all my expenditure daily.

I didn't even do this for a day. But I feel I am a pretty responsible spender, I don't spend more than I can afford. And that also means that I don't spend every last cent of my earnings. Though the year-end travelling (without an income) did set me back quite substantially.

6. Work towards a promotion at work, or in other words, be open to any career advancement opportunities, and be proactive while at it.

So I've left my previous employment and I will be starting a new role in the coming year of which I am partly excited and partly anxious. We'll see!

7. To spend at least half an hour each day to do quiet time. If due to unforeseen circumstance I happen to skip a day, it shall be replaced within the same week.

I resorted to getting myself a daily bible and I try my best to read the allotted daily portion before I sleep each day. However, there are days where I end up wasting my entire waking hours doing inconsequential stuff and come night time, I give myself the excuse that I'm too tired to read. Not proud of myself at all.

8. To get a full medical check up.

Done.

9. To learn a new language, or a new skill. And in general to be open to new adventures and ideas.

So I tried surfing in Bali which was a first. I also finally did my basic rock climbing course at Camp5 which means I can basically go there on my own now. I also traveled solo for the first time this year. I also spontaneously sailed with a group of people which turned out to be pretty valuable experience altogether.

10. To be kind, patient, forgiving and thankful. Always!

If I had to pick one thing to reflect upon in 2014, it would be the fact that I am completely capable (depending on whether I want to or not) of playing the kind, patient and forgiving self when it comes to strangers and friends but not so when it comes to family. I suppose the problem lies with me, after all, if I am capable of being nice to a perfect stranger, why can't I be nicer to family? But I suspect that this has a lot to do with how things are at home too, and family can be the most difficult people to deal with sometimes because they are family. I don't know what I can do to better myself at being a better daughter to my parents, a better sister to my siblings, a better granddaughter to my grandparents, and a better niece so on and so forth, but I suppose that's what people mean by, life is a learning process. You just keep trying your damnedest.

An Update

Ola! I seem to have been out of it for a bit, I meant with updating the blog. In any case, I figured it's time to provide a slightly-delayed mid year update on my 2014 resolutions.

Let's go!

1. Shopping ban. I am putting a ban on buying new clothing for the entire 2014 - no new shoes, new tops, new jeans, no new earrings / rings / necklaces etc, unless the situation deem it completely necessary. Gifts for others are a different story.

I've been a tad naughty with this one. The record so far is - 1 pair of wedges, 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of pumps. 1 pair of jeans, 1 dress, 1 (if I may add, cheap) top (bought in Samui), 1 Airism camisole, 2 exercise shorts, 2 sports bras, 2 pairs of bikinis, 1 aztec top (that was from the same online store with the bikinis). And this is excluding my purchases while in Japan, but that don't really count - 2 work tops from Uniqlo, 1 Snoopy sweater, and a scarf. In my defence, most of what I got in Japan was really to keep my freezing ass warm.

2. To travel to 2 new places that I've not been to before. Calling all travel buddies!

Checked! Philippines in March for sailing, Japan in April for holiday, Koh Samui in May for sailing.. Maybe more end of the year hey!

3. To be vegetarian and/or pescetarian the first week (7 days) of each month. This is mainly to lead a healthier lifestyle. This means I'll be meat-free for my birthday this year too, party planners please take note!

I cheat on this sometimes. Like, maybe twice. Or three times. Let's just make that 5 times. But all in all, if you think about it, I would have pescetarian for 49 days in total now..

4. Read more. And Dramabeans don't count.

I've finished (unfortunately) only 3 books thus far - David and Goliath, The Social Animal and my latest being Three Cups of Tea.

5. Be more watchful of my expenses. To jot down as best as I can all my expenditure daily.

=(

6. Work towards a promotion at work, or in other words, be open to any career advancement opportunities, and be proactive while at it.

Well..

7. To spend at least half an hour each day to do quiet time. If due to unforeseen circumstance I happen to skip a day, it shall be replaced within the same week.

=(

8. To get a full medical check up.

Done. Healthy as a horse!

9. To learn a new language, or a new skill. And in general to be open to new adventures and ideas.

Hm, I like to think I've been rather open to new stuff this year. =)

10. To be kind, patient, forgiving and thankful. Always!

Sorta kinda? =)
