It's Been A Month

Since I last posted. An it'll be a month to my birthday in June! :)

What is the beauty in claiming to be busy? People like to say, "I'm super busy", "I am very busy because I've got so much to do", "I am so busy I don't have enough time"..

Really?

Hm. Don't get me wrong. I love giving people the illusion that I am busy too - because maybe for me busy equates to being important. But on hindsight, doesn't being busy just imply that you have lousy time management? And that you have your priorities set a little bit differently from everyone else?

#foodforthought

Let's see what else has changed or at least is worth a mention. I started Korean classes - typing Korean on my keyboard is impossible though.  I had scabies (again!) - but I've recovered from it already. I got myself a new laptop which is paid for by the company - huzzah! My acne has taken a step for the worse - 真的没得靠脸吃饭了。Seoul & Jeju trip is in 2 months, exciting!

#throwback to Shinjuku Gyoen, Tokyo, Japan.
Was clearing my Dropbox for space.

My leave for Samui end of May is approved, and so, I shall concede that that's the best birthday gift I can ask for since I've been really looking forward to go sailing competitively again.

I don't prefer the aunty at the zhap fan stall to the uncle. She gives me less lauk! Hahaha..

Okay, I better go back to work since this was meant to be a short breather.

My motto as of late has been, if you're going to have to do, delaying it a day or two will not make a difference. So, using Nike's tag - Just do it.

Just do it.

3565

That's the total step count for today. Probably more if I carried my phone with me to the water filter and washroom and pantry. But for the most of it, it's a good count for a rest day!

A quick update to get everyone up to speed (since we've already moved into a new year), I've started a new job in Singapore - which makes me think if I should change my blog name to something more neutral since posting (if I continue to keep it up) will reflect life here in Singapore more than when I was still back home.

Well..

I was pretty much freezing my ass off in the States on the last days of 2015, it's nice to be back where it's warm and sunny.

Haha, Happy 2016 people! xx

Diving @ Perhentian with Universal Divers

Hello peeps!

I'm back from 4 wonderful days (Wed - Sat) of diving with newfound confidence that I as long as I trust myself, I can do anything. Granted, with the correct support from the necessary people that is.

After all, that's why God puts so many different people in our lives. It's always for a reason.

I've got the awesome dive instructors and divemasters from Universal Divers, on Perhentian Besar - Charlotte, Ali, Farid, Niko, Gemma and all the helpful and sweet boat guys to thank for making me feel at home underwater and for being so patient with me. THANK YOU! :)

I successfully logged 8 dives in the 4 days, 2 dives each on Wed and Thurs, 3 dives on Fri and 1 early morning on Sat before leaving Perhentian by noon. That brings my total dive count to 12 so far!

Here are some on land photos of the bunch I was travelling with. No diving photos because I've not fully mastered the art of taking care of myself underwater, yet. Also, underwater photography gear costs a bomb!

After a whole night's drive from Kuala Lumpur to the jetty. I was mostly asleep in the car.
I make a terrible passenger / stay awake driver companion.

All excited to finally be on our way to island "paradise", the haze found its way there too, but it's definitely much much worse back home!

The other two divers I was with who had to care for their expensive cameras (and me).

Sunset view from Cocohut - where we stayed and dined at most of the time.
I give them a 9/10 rating for overall experience; decently priced, clean, with hot showers, aircond and fan, and sufficiently comfy beds, make sure you pack an extra blanket if you tend to get chilly at night.

Mango Smoothie yummsss!

Our dinners were mostly extravagant. That's what vacations are for! :)

These meals were all at Cocohut's restaurant.

Trying out the selfie stick! I am tempted to get one..

Group photo!

Overall on my dive trip: Visibility underwater wasn't all that great, and the currents were strong. I still did manage to catch sightings of Nemo(s), a shark, nudibranchs, turtles, a tonne of fishes whose names I cannot remember. All in all, good training for a newbie diver like myself. We all learn through experience no?

I had a fantastic time thanks to the people I was traveling with, the people I encountered on the island and not to forget, thank you Lord for helping me recover in time for my dives, and for keeping all of us safe throughout the trip.

Can't wait for my next dive trip!

It's A Pattern

When it's time to go on vacation, my body breaks down. Dive trip is due tomorrow, and I woke up with a sore throat this morning. And it doesn't seem to be getting any less sore.

I am really trying to resist eating an icecream now. Sweet tooth go away.

Today, it poured like madness. As I stared out the window and wondered if I liked rain. And then I concluded that I like it sometimes, and not so much at other times.

November - Gabrielle Aplin

I know it's not November yet, but rain makes me think of this song.

My eternal dilemma is in not knowing what I want. And when I think I know I want something, it's usually not that good for me. Like how I know I need to go pack my bags. But a big part of me wants to eat an icecream.

My throat hurts. And limbs hurt (from gym and climbing over the weekend). And my eyes are tired from staring at the computer for ridiculously long hours today.

I just really wanna whine. Which in this case, I know is not good for me.

Doggie has to go for an operation tomorrow. It seems that he has some blockage in his urinary tract. I am either heartless, or I've mastered the art of detachment so well that it is barely affecting me.

Once, a very good friend of mine, I can trust her to be honest with me (or so I like to think). She's completely blunt when it comes to serving you hard truths, she said something to me which stuck until this day - You're just tough on the exterior but inside, you're weak.

Of course, I did not enjoy hearing it. At all.

But she may just have scored a goal there.

Bye and goodnight now.

P/s: Please pray for Doggie's operation, And for my safe journey to the islands for my dives, and for Doggie and my speedy recovery. Thanks! xx

[Photolog] A Weekend @ Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur

Good evening!

Here's a quick one, or as quick a one as possible.

The past weekend, I had the luxury of staying at Le Meridien, Sentral because mommy had, through her hidden talent of winning contents, won us a weekend stay, as a Starwood Preferred Guest, for free!

That's me. Enjoying their nomnom spread at their Club Lounge. Don't get me started on the variety of healthy they had.. The wannabe travel blogger in me only succeeded in taking the photo of yogurt though. Ha. Everything else went into my stomach before I managed to snap a shot.

I think the specific room we were staying at was the Le Meridien Club Room, as their website describes the privileges I got to enjoy over the weekend is identical:
Le Meridien Club rooms offers panoramic views of the city and Lake Gardens in a 36.1 square metres setting with a 40'' LCD television and fitted DVD player. Enjoy the wide variety of our buffet breakfast spread at Latest Recipe on Level 5 and evening cocktails at alternate venues of the hotel, guest will be able to enjoy different unique experiences in our hotel.

I am terribly sorry but the only thing I remembered to take photo of was the glorious bathtub and the view while you soak in it, simply gorgeous!

Mom took this photo. And I'm actually somewhere in this photo, if you can spot me. Haha! I finally managed to finish the book that I had been eager to finish since 2 months back. Mission accomplished.

I absolutely enjoyed being spoilt for the weekend despite it being a short one. I'll be back! :)

学着爱

學著愛 - 周興哲

I was driving to work when I heard this on the radio. I fell in love instantly.

I am not the kind of girl who'd splurge on luxury brands, but a lot of my money does go towards buying unnecessary stuff, like that extra pair of cute earrings, or that lip balm because I left all 7 of mine at home. I also spend a lot on food, and on hipster cafes. Without really realizing it. I am hereby pledging to stop spending on things I don't need. Things I do need, ie, a black work skirt, a chalk bag, and my climbing shoes, I will save up by cutting down on all those unnecessarily pricey coffee. At least for the next 6 months.

So if you wanna ask me out for coffee, it better be at a mamak, or you can be prepared to pay for my drink. Hahaha. I figured if I want good coffee, I can just go back to my office since we have an amazing coffee machine there. And my boss strictly survives on coffee or Coke, so we'd never have a shortage of beans in the office. Though I am constantly telling him how both of that aren't particularly healthy options.

I also really want to travel. Itching to go places but not only does my bank account not permit me to do so, taking leave is another source of meh-ness lies in the fact that I have very limited leave days, and I really want do one more sailing event this year since I DIDN'T GET TO SAIL IN BORACAY.

Good problems though these are. Because at least if I keep working, I'll have the means to travel, and if I plan well, I'll be able to travel some. Thank God for good health, and kudos to myself for *cough* taking good care of myself.

My hands are no longer itchy by the way! But I've still got some spots, think the scabies are taking awhile to clear but I am happy nonetheless, no more scary looking hands and I can confidently shake people's hands and give them high fives!

Can someone fly me to Korea, or Taiwan, or Bangkok. Or to Singapore for that matter because I have something to pick up from there. And can someone get Boost juice to sponsor me healthy shakes after each of my workouts too? And can anybody please stop all the depressing events that are happening around the world? Please pretty please.

There is one thing I dislike as much as a sloppy or smudged manicure. A manicure that is chipping all over. But I am too sore from my double workout today to move even my fingers, and I typing this still because I love my readers, yes, that's you.

To be honest, it's also because the more traffic I get, the more money I make, hopefully.

So if I keep this up, please visit more often ok?

I am inclined to do a series of Q and A, so readers can leave comments anonymously (if you wish), asking me stuff that you want to know. Maybe that's a way for me to discover myself too, in asking myself questions that I've not thought of asking.

Hmm, I wonder if I'll get any questions..

Long, Longer, Longest

I can assure you that today's post is going to be long. But how long I don't know yet, it depends on how much I can write before I get tired of my own writing. Which based on past experience, can take awhile.

Miss MW, this post is especially for you.

You ready?

1. I don't know who told me this, but basically, he/she said that when you are having your period, you can eat all the chocolates, and you won't gain weight. I am probably old enough to know that that's a lie, but my inner child wants to believe it. So I had 2 cubes of White Chocolate Macadamia. To be fair, macadamia is a nut, and nuts are proteins.

2. I also did my fair share of workout today, which I made sure to exceed 30 minutes in duration. I also somehow dunno how managed to complete 5 unbroken double unders. And then that was it, I couldn't repeat another 3 no matter how hard I tried.

3. Also, I came home from Boracay sick. It started with a sore throat while I was still there, and then it became a full blown cough when I got back. I've tried flying with a hangover, not fun. Flying with an onset of a cold, same feeling as a hangover.

4. I coughed so much last night I was convinced I'd wake up with abs. Of course, that didn't happen. I checked.

5. Speaking of Boracay. I know I raved about it on and on and funnily enough, having been there a second time, I no longer think it's that fantastic. Maybe it is partially due to the fact that I hadn't been able to race (we had some major damage on the boat that forbade us from racing, boohoo, but I won't go into the technicalities of it). And having so much "free" time, I realized that there's really not much to do on that island. Also didn't help that there was a spillover of algae on the beach this time around. The theory by the crew was that because Boracay doesn't have proper sewage systems, they pump all their waste into the sea, and with now being one of the hottest and sunniest season, fertilizer + sunlight promotes algae growth. Smelly.

6. Kalibo airport is mad chaotic. Evidently, I didn't enjoy my arrival nor departure all that much. I'd go with KL - Manila - Caticlan (Boracay) (Cebu airlines connecting flight) over KL - Kalibo (Boracay) (AirAsia route) any day. In terms of travel time, it'll likely end up being the same if you manage to match a flight out from Manila to Caticlan as soon as you touch down in Manila.

7. "We made a promise to never get old.."

The Days - Avicii

Stomach ache, be right back!

8. It is either an age thing, or my immune system is just weakening. As if coughing my lungs out isn't enough, I've also been attacked by a bout of mites. I know right. According to my favourite doctor (no sarcasm intended), I've got scabies. And excuse the profanity coming up next, but it really is fucking itchy. And while I am pretty sure all of us at some point will have one or two scabi? (for singular), the mites have decided to take over my ENTIRE palms, both of them. I was whining about it to my mom earlier and her one mention of "Do you want to go and get a blood test?" made the itch go away for just about as long as the distance it is from her room to mine.

On this note, please pray that whatever is causing this condition to quickly go away and that I'll be cured soon because apart from it being extra inconvenient, I'm even afraid to show people my hands now, let alone shake their hands, it's also causing me a certain level of anxiety because it's actually pretty bad. Thank you for your kind prayers in advance.

9. I suspect I may have touched something while I was in the Philippines because I realized the onset of it while I was there, but I didn't think too much of it then, and it worsen yesterday which was when I decided to go the doctor and unfortunately, it seems to have gone from bad to worse since yesterday. Hopefully, it's one of those it'll-have-to-get-worse-before-it-gets-better thing, otherwise, I just might actually need that blood test. /wails

10. Also, while I was in the Philippines, the hotel I was staying at, despite its' horrendous customer service, one of the worst seriously coughCasaPilarcough, they had a decent choice of songs playing at their breakfast venue. This was one I really really liked - and for that matter, every subsequent song on the same album was amazing!

11. Itttttttttccccchy hands. Gah. It's really not funny. =(

12. On Sunday, a part of the sermon talked about the atmosphere of your heart. And that kind of clicked with me because the whole week I spent in the Philippines was a testing time for me. Not only did I not get to sail, but on several accounts, I had struggled with judging others, and then condemning myself for doing so, and then I lost interest in trying to socialise, and pretty much preferred my own company over spending time with people. It was also extra difficult because I am aware that my actions are observed by the people around me and they talk, and I don't like it. But I also told myself that if I force myself to sit through an unpleasant situation, I'd end up saying things I'd regret, so I might as well excuse myself before it's all too late.

13. At this juncture, I'm not sure if is hormonal, but perhaps it's a bit of everything. Basically, what I am trying to say is that when your heart is thinking / feeling negatively, you are bound to perceive everything negatively, likewise, if you heart is thinking / feeling positively, your thoughts and actions will bound to reflect that state. I guess in other words, it's self fulfilling prophecy, which by the way, is definitely one of my all time favourite theories. So at the end of the day, in all that we do, let us have a pure and kind heart.

14. I meant to do a few things tonight, for instance, pay off my credit cards, search for cheap flights, and the rest I can't remember but I am guessing it'll probably be time for bed my nighttime coughing spree once I am done with this post.

15. Reviewing some notes I wrote on my phone, one reads perky butt. LOL. I remember why I wrote that and I'm gonna explain it here. Prior to leaving for the Philippines, I had bought a Groupon for personal training (I may have mentioned this in my previous postings but anyway), so I was working out quite regularly and the sessions was relatively intense too. It came to a point where one day, I was checking myself out in the mirror, and all of you do that too so don't judge, and I thought to myself, Hmm, your butt has gotten perkier Ng Ai Li, well done! All those squats and lunges paid off, I thought to myself.

16. And then as soon as I had made a mental note to write about it, "Did you put on weight?" comments from friends started flooding my inflated esteem which basically resulted in a deflated esteem. But my esteem levels are healthy so the inflation and deflation isn't a cause for worry. So I am basically back to square one of thinking if I should continue working out or not.

17. And if you're gonna ask me if I watch what I eat while I work out, of course I do. I don't necessarily eat cleaner than usual, but my food intake, is pretty healthy generally. I've even cut out icecream which explains why my tub of awesome Vanilla is still taunting me in the face everytime I open the freezer.

18. On that note too, I am contemplating if I should pay for one on one sessions after my Groupon trial is over, which is pretty soon. My options are a) go back to crossfit - which I am reluctant to do because I think I don't have my basics right and carrying weights is going to do me more harm than good, b) pay for a gym membership - which I am also reluctant to do because I know I am not the kind of motivated person who would voluntarily go run on the treadmill beyond 2 minutes, c) One on one personal training - which is highly expensive but will work because I am a lazy bum who needs external influences to exercise.

19. And the reason I am entertaining that thought still is because I am certain that at some point last year, while I was planning my 2015 resolutions, one of them was to join a gym and workout more consistently. And if you're an avid reader of my blog (which if you've made it this far down this post, I'm quite sure you are), then you'd know that I've decided to not have any resolutions this year after all. Though that's not to say that there's nothing I want to achieve. Other things that were on my no-longer-in-existence list include purchasing an IPL package - which I've done, and learning Korean so that I'll be fluent for our next trip to Jeju - which I've not done.

20. I think I am quite done for the day and if you've not felt like you've read enough, I applaud you sincerely, and then I give myself a pat on the back for being able to keep my readers entertained until the very last bit.

Good job, you and I both. xx

P/s: I usually am in the habit of proofreading my posts before I publish them to ensure that there are no mistakes, but I myself can't bear to re-read what I've just written so you can either leave a comment and alert me on any errors, or you can just read and laugh to yourself. Either way, I'm happy if you are. Tata!

Hello Saturday! It's already been almost a week.

The goal today would be to be productive, and go to bed tired!

Taiwan Travel Log | Day 1 (30th Oct)

Finally getting started on this! I hope you'll enjoy the journey with me as I look back on my most recent trip to Taipei, Taiwan. This is a particularly significant trip as I finally made the leap of faith, to go places alone. And just to illustrate how much I enjoyed it, I have made a decision to travel alone once each year, destination and duration will not matter. =)

And so, here we go!

For starters, this was very much an impulse trip in which, my total planning for it came up to about 1.5 weeks, and that count started after I bought my tickets and accommodation to Taipei via AirAsiaGo.

The reasons why I like AirAsiaGo is because it's fuss-free and one doesn't have to go through another round of decision making when searching for places to stay, and making booking mistakes like booking for one less night - trust me, this has happened before. Also, I personally think that AirAsiaGo packages are pretty decently priced, though you'll tend to get not-so-favourable flight times. But that I can do with. The other caveat is that when booking flights through AirAsiaGo, you get no other amenities, so, no baggage allowance, no meals etc. And that's where the "hidden costs" are. I don't recall ever paying so much for 20kg's baggage allowance (RM79 one way if I had not mistaken!) So, be prepared for that too.

I started my trip on what I would consider a really good note, in that my KLIA express train ticket from KL Sentral to KLIA2 was discounted. Apparently, it was a promotion made known to the public via local newspapers but as you might not know, yours truly does not look into the papers. In any case, there was this nice uncle dressed in uniform who was at the ticketing counter and he was telling passengers about buying tickets via the newly installed credit card kiosk and with any Visa card, you'd get to purchase your ticket with a discount. And who doesn't love discounts?

I certainly do. Too bad the promo was only for the month of October, if I am not wrong.

So I got to KLIA2, and the Dad was waiting for me to have lunch together before I flew. It is noteworthy that I was not the only one excited about my solo trip. Both my old folks were either really excited for me as well, or they were just worried about their demure and innocent daughter going overseas all alone. Ha!

I had this fantastic fusion pizza at one of the restaurants near the main entrance to the departure hall and Dad had his usual aglio e olio, and both dishes were really yummy, so much so I ate a wee bit too much and didn't end up touching my nasi lemak at all which I had pre-booked for my flight, since I would only be arriving Taoyuan at 10ish-pm, I figured I'd be needing dinner because if I had to look for my hostel in the dead of the night on an empty stomach, that would not have been pleasant. So yes.

Immigration was a breeze and I boarded my flight, said a quick little prayer and I was sound asleep before takeoff - my usual modus operandi. I woke up 2 hours into the flight to a headache, and seeing that I had another 1+ hours into the flight, I decided to pop some panadols to make the pain go away and resumed sleeping.. And then it was touchdown and I was super eager to get my very pink luggage from the carousel and get to my hostel for the night so much so I barely paid attention to the airport except for the fact that it had free wifi. Don't say that's not the first thing you do when you touchdown at any foreign airport because that's a lie!

And I'm really quite apologetic that this is turning out to be much wordier than I had expected, it's partially because I had packed my camera into my luggage because I figured that there wouldn't be anything exciting for me to take photos of at this point anyway. So Day 1 really does not have any photos to show..

Collected my baggage, texted my parents to say that "I couldn't have missed my baggage from a mile away" and said that I'll text them again when I get to my hostel. Looked for the signboard which would ultimately lead me to the bus that everyone takes into Taipei from Taoyuan - the Kuo-Kuang 1819 bus which costs 125NTD.

They actually tag your luggage as you board the bus from the airport so when you alight, they can ensure that you are not taking someone else's luggage with you. I found that very thoughtful, though a little time and effort consuming on the driver's side.

My stop was the final stop at Taipei Main Station and knowing that I was going to be alone with no one to depend on, I was prepared. I had the map to my hostel in my backpack along with detailed directions. The hunt for Homey Hostel was on! Super glad that I decided to pack light to go so it was not a problem lugging my baggage up and down the pedestrian bridge to get to my hostel, coming back is a different story, you'll just have to wait till Day 7 to get to that part.

Was I scared being all alone, at midnight, in an unfamiliar town, trying to navigate my way via a map? You bet I was, noting that I'm not fond of maps and directions to begin with. And I'm not afraid to admit it. I was a little afraid that I'd not find my hostel, what happens then? As I walked back and forth a couple of times, checking my map in hand to ensure that I was in the right direction, I finally, spotted the brightly lit Homey Hostel signboard and I was the happiest girl of the hour. At that moment, I knew the world was mine to conquer, dramatic much! I was also super glad that my bag had wheels so I just rolled it everywhere. Super convenient.

Made my to Level 7, where the hostel was based and was directed to the counter to collect my keycard, which is an arrangement that all travelers staying at Homey would encounter if they are checking in past 10.30pm. Rolled my bag along with me through the common area and tagged my keycard at the door leading to the room in which I'd be spending the next 7 nights.

I was pleasantly surprised at how cosy the room felt, it's not my first encounter with dorms, but I felt that my home away from home for the next 8 days was going to be a really pleasant one. The keycard that gave each of us access into our rooms also acts a power source for our individual sockets for light and charging stations. So it's basically like how it would be like in a hotel.

Then! I had to make my own bed. Hahaha. So much for the cozy and pleasant feelings. With my bedsheets and pillowcase all in place, it was time to unpack, rest and prepare for the adventures of Day 2, more on that soon, with photos!

Before I end this post, here's a youtube that I've been listening to as I wrote the 1212 words above.

And allow me to bask in some reflected glory by saying that the singer was my classmate in uni. How cool is that. =)

The Withdrawals Are Serious With This One

So I am back from Bali with a nasty sore throat. It really hurts. =(

Here's a random photo of me at one of our dinner choices in Bali - Warung Wahaha. Noms! It was scrumptious, and frankly, quite well priced too (having checked my credit card bills this morning with the confirmation after the conversion rate).

On a sidenote: I always wondered why restaurants would put what ended up on our dinner plates as their mascots.

I believe this trip made me love Bali a lot more than the last trip I had. Perhaps because this time, we decided to stay put in one place and not do the touristy thing of trying to see the whole of Bali and get stuck in tortuous jams. We did get scammed by one of the taxi drivers to dinner though, I hope he lives well with the money he got off us. I mean so, in the sense that I hope he's not using that money to do drugs or buy cigarettes but instead to send his children to school or to buy them a nice meal or two. One can only hope.

What did I do this time, you may ask? We took surfing lessons and had a great session with our instructor from Odyssey Surf School, we had our daily foot reflexology massage at this place which I can't recall its name, we ate good food and dined at some really pretty places including The Deck followed by drinks at Potato Head Beach Club. And we stayed at the very orangey themed Harris Hotel Raya Kuta which is a bit of a distance to the beach but I guess that's how we managed to stay within the budget for accomm. They do have the most comfy beds and pillows though!

All in all, I loved the surf session, which was meant to be the highlight of the trip anyway, I wished we had the energy and determination to go back the second day but alas, we just couldn't get ourselves to. Saving it for a "next time" for sure.

In the meantime, I need a replacement throat.

An Update

Ola! I seem to have been out of it for a bit, I meant with updating the blog. In any case, I figured it's time to provide a slightly-delayed mid year update on my 2014 resolutions.

Let's go!

1. Shopping ban. I am putting a ban on buying new clothing for the entire 2014 - no new shoes, new tops, new jeans, no new earrings / rings / necklaces etc, unless the situation deem it completely necessary. Gifts for others are a different story.

I've been a tad naughty with this one. The record so far is - 1 pair of wedges, 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of pumps. 1 pair of jeans, 1 dress, 1 (if I may add, cheap) top (bought in Samui), 1 Airism camisole, 2 exercise shorts, 2 sports bras, 2 pairs of bikinis, 1 aztec top (that was from the same online store with the bikinis). And this is excluding my purchases while in Japan, but that don't really count - 2 work tops from Uniqlo, 1 Snoopy sweater, and a scarf. In my defence, most of what I got in Japan was really to keep my freezing ass warm.

2. To travel to 2 new places that I've not been to before. Calling all travel buddies!

Checked! Philippines in March for sailing, Japan in April for holiday, Koh Samui in May for sailing.. Maybe more end of the year hey!

3. To be vegetarian and/or pescetarian the first week (7 days) of each month. This is mainly to lead a healthier lifestyle. This means I'll be meat-free for my birthday this year too, party planners please take note!

I cheat on this sometimes. Like, maybe twice. Or three times. Let's just make that 5 times. But all in all, if you think about it, I would have pescetarian for 49 days in total now..

4. Read more. And Dramabeans don't count.

I've finished (unfortunately) only 3 books thus far - David and Goliath, The Social Animal and my latest being Three Cups of Tea.

5. Be more watchful of my expenses. To jot down as best as I can all my expenditure daily.

=(

6. Work towards a promotion at work, or in other words, be open to any career advancement opportunities, and be proactive while at it.

Well..

7. To spend at least half an hour each day to do quiet time. If due to unforeseen circumstance I happen to skip a day, it shall be replaced within the same week.

=(

8. To get a full medical check up.

Done. Healthy as a horse!
